TransFORMATIONS is an installation piece that crosses the boundaries of product design and architecture and challenges the definition of seating. Hundreds of pieces of plywood emerge from the floor of Lincoln Corridor on the CCNY campus and interweave to connect to the adjoining walls of the space. During the course of this continual transformation, they provide zones for seating, gathering and relaxation and ultimately form a wall that acts as a screening element. The piece was designed using 3D software which was used as a blueprint for fabrication. Every piece of plywood was then cut to size and assembled on site to create the finished piece.
